On April 25, the GSC received one of the MIT Compton Prizes for its service to the community the past 5 years. The Compton Prizes reflect outstanding contributions to the MIT community as a whole, sustained over a significant number of years.

At the April General Council Meeting, the GSC voted to approve the creation of an unprecedented and historic fund to support graduate families in partnership with the Office of the Provost, Chancellor, Dean of Graduate Education, and MIT Work-Life.Click below for the resolution language

On April 13, 700 graduate students gathered at the Boston Park Plaza for the GSC's 7th Annual Grad Gala, which included three course dinner, a 20+ piece swing band, and a packed dance floor!

Twice each year, the GSC's Legislative Action Subcommittee travels to Washington DC to meet with U.S. congressional leaders and advocate for graduate and professional students. Learn more about the GSC's lobbying efforts in Washington!

The GSC's annual stipend recommendation project has resulted in a 3.5% increase in graduate student stipends over the next fiscal year

During Graduate Orientation 2012, graduate students from across MIT came together to participate in a global charity called the Memory Project. Together they painted twenty portraits of orphans from Rwanda which will be returned to the children along with a donation for their community.
