SIGN UP LINK

Please volunteer yourselves and ask your friends, members of your organization, etc. to sign up for this easy but very important orientation task of welcoming incoming students to campus.  List your availability from August 16 to August 30, 2009 here:

VOLUNTEER DETAILS

The GSC has contracted a shuttle company to pick up incoming students who have registered on the GSC website with their flight information.  The shuttle runs every half hour and will be notified of the student's arrival, allowing the student to be picked up at the ground transportation site of his/her arrival terminal.  Because of the convenience of this, we will not need volunteers at the airport.  Instead the GSC is asking for volunteers to meet the incoming student at one of three shuttle drop off locations on campus:

  1. Albany Street (servicing residents of Sidney Pacific, Ashdown, Edgerton, and Warehouse)
  2. Amherst Street (servicing residents of Tang and Westgate)
  3. Wadsworth Street (servicing residents of Eastgate)

As a volunteer, you would wait for the graduate student to arrive at his/her drop off point, help him/her get to his/her specific dorm, and talk to him/her a little about MIT (if you want).  Basically we're hoping you'll welcome the student to MIT!

Using the link above, please list the time slots in which you believe you can be on campus to meet an incoming graduate student.  Once the GSC receives the flight information of the students, specific assignments will be made to let volunteers know specifically where and when they have to be available to greet an incoming student!

We need all the volunteers we can get!!!  We are hoping to receive about 200-300 students this year.  The deadline to sign up for volunteering is August 7, 2009 so that we can have a few days to coordinate a volunteer schedule and inform the new student that someone is there to welcome him/her.

Thank you for your help.  We wouldn't be able to have a successful orientation without you!
