Event Details

Tuesday, April 19, 2016 (an MIT student holiday) in the brand new Samberg Conference Center (E52)

As part of the larger “Together in Service” event series, the GSC is organizing a community-based service event in which teams (including graduate students, undergrads, Cambridge high school students, and Cambridge city employees) will work together to create solutions to Cambridge civic problems as identified by members of the community. Motivated students with outstanding ideas will get the opportunity to continue to explore their civic solution with fellowship funding and guidance from appropriate city officials.

Event Format

The Graduate Student Council solicited proposals for civic challenges in Cambridge, MA that could be addressed in a one-day targeted service event in the style of a “hackathon.” Proposals were due on January 15th, 2016 and the GSC Service Working Group will select the civic challenges to be addressed in this event.

  • Tree-Friendly Sidewalks
  • “Blue Sky” Redesign of Streets (complete top-to-bottom redesign without considering cost, logistics, etc.)
