The Activities Committee (as the name suggests) organizes several indoor and outdoor events/activities for the grad community of MIT throughout the year. Our mission (solely and wholly) is to have fun!
The Activities Committee has the following sub-committees –
- GradRat (the official graduate ring of MIT): helps host the several GradRat giveaway dinners around the year, and promote sales by setting up stalls at various social events.
- Grad Gala: helps plan and host the MIT Grad Gala – the official black-tie event for grad students.
- GSC Ski Trip: helps organize the GSC Ski trip during IAP.
- Sample Events: We form ad-hoc sub-committees for planning several events throughout the year.

How to get involved
Want to become a volunteer or run an event

Upcoming Meeting Time: Jun 10th, 6PM
To join the committee mailing list for updates and meeting times, reach out to us at gsc-ac[at]mit[dot]edu.
On the evening of the last day of Spring classes, come on over to the Stata Amphitheater and enjoy the company of your fellow grad students over food, live music, beer and non-alcoholic beverages. This year, the event will be on May 16 from 4:30-7:30pm.
Harbor Islands Trip
Spend some time this summer at this beautiful national recreation area and “walk a Civil War-era fort, visit historic lighthouses, explore tide pools, hike lush trails, camp under the stars, or relax while fishing, picnicking or swimming-all within reach of downtown Boston.” More information coming soon!
Taste of… Series
Held one Tuesday evening per month, events from the “Taste of…” series give you the opportunity to enjoy different cultures from around the world! See some performances or partake in an activity hosted by one of the numerous cultural groups on campus, and (pretty) importantly, take the opportunity to enjoy that culture’s food! Past events in the series have celebrated the cultures of Germany, China, Belgium, India, Greece, the South, the Caribbean… Ideas for an event in the series? Email us at gsc-ac[at]mit[dot]edu!
Six Flags Trip
Trip to Six Flags in Springfield, MA.
A series of semi-formal to black-tie events, where grad students can appreciate art, mingle, and enjoy light refreshments at some of the most beautiful museums and galleries in the area. Past venues have included the Harvard Museum of Natural History, the Copley Society of Art and the MIT List Visual Arts Center.
Would you rather hang out in smaller groups and make some friends in a low key, activity-based setting? Friendsie Frenzy events might be your solution! We’ll have activities and snacks that will enable new friendships and also tons of fun!
