What: GSC Archivist Position 

Time frame: 10 hours per week, starting in IAP and structured around academic duties

Why: To organize and digitize the MIT Graduate Student Council’s extensive paper and electronic files, with a goal of providing relevant historical context on the GSC’s involvement in MIT policy-making and advocacy over time. Pertinent questions might address the GSC’s relationship with Interlink and other international student-focused programming; GSC subcommittees’ involvement with international student advocacy, housing concerns, or other pertinent issues for contemporary MIT communities; and the GSC’s changing relationship with MIT administration and internal organization. This position is further intended to allow significant institutional knowledge transfer via detailed, organized, and accessible archives. The Archivist would also attend monthly GSC General Council meetings and be on hand to answer any questions related to the historical contexts of student advocacy. 

Who: This position is open to all MIT graduate students (US and international), with preference given to applicants experienced in document digitization, database creation and maintenance, or other historical expertise. Position time frame is variable to accommodate academic obligations.
