  • Join the List Center and MIT Morningside Academy for Design (MAD) for a 3-day IAP workshop exploring the history and legacy of public space design.
  • This is an opportunity to reimagine how Richard Fleischner’s works can be better articulated in space by leveraging the site’s unique characteristics.
  • Students will design and prototype ways of framing these historic works in a collaborative setting to activate Fleischner’s Courtyards in novel ways.
  • The workshop will take place Tuesday, January 13 through Thursday, January 15, 2026, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM each day.

  • This two-session IAP series, offered by the Writing and Communication Center, explores the fundamentals of designing and building a literature review.
  • Whether part of a thesis, journal article, or a standalone text, a ‘lit review’ shows your understanding of the academic literature on your topic.
  • The series will explore how to plan and organize a ‘lit review,’ what it can accomplish, and how to find an entry point into a research conversation.
  • We will also consider how GenAI tools, when used critically and responsibly, can facilitate and expedite the crafting of a ‘lit review.’
  • This interactive IAP series will take place on Zoom—come prepared to participate.

  • In this workshop, you will discuss literary devices that make good fiction, such as character, point of view, setting, conflict, and dialogue.
  • During this program, you will identify a significant experience and start the writing process to create a piece of nonfiction that engage readers.
  • Whether you write another application essay or build a memoir, this workshop will get you started in finding your voice and telling your story.

  • Participants will learn how to plan and organize the thesis writing process in ways that support both success and learning.
  • The program focuses on developing a realistic writing plan with clear milestones, deadlines, and built-in support for the spring semester.
  • It also explores what it means to make a meaningful contribution in a master’s thesis and how expertise is developed through writing.
  • Finally, the workshop addresses how to balance academic expectations with efficiency and sustained progress.
