The GSC supports a variety of funding opportunities throughout the year for student groups, individuals, or council representatives.


For Individuals and Groups

The GSC can help you overcome financial barriers. We encourage all graduate students to apply for funding for events: academic or otherwise.

Presenting a poster or presentation?

Apply for our Conference Grant.
$300 (virtual) – $1000 (In-person)

Professional development event caught your eye?

Apply for our Professional Development Exploration (PDE) Grant.
Up to $200.

Kickstarting a sustainability initiative?

Apply for our Sustainability Fund.
$100 – $1000

Hosting a diversity event?

Apply for our DEI Community Fund.
Up to $300.

Big event idea on your mind?

Apply for our Initiatives Fund.
$2000 or less.
(Smaller projects also welcome)

The GSC Funding Board is the main funding body to ASA-recognized graduate student groups. [NOTICE: THIS WILL SOON BE THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT FUNDING COUNCIL. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WILL BE PROVIDED WHEN AVAILABLE]

Funding Board: Standard student group events.

Only MIT-funded student groups that are majority graduate students are eligible for GSC funding. Check your student group’s class and privileges in the ASA database.
